Economic growth of a country to a large extent revolves around the growth of metallurgical sector. Current global trend indicates continuous increase in demand of new materials in the present and years ahead. Development of human race has been always bench marked by the discovery and use of materials, like the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age. With the advent of transistors man entered the silicon age. Even though nano sized materials have been around since the birth of the Universe, man is yet to learn to control generation of engineered materials using building blocks of nano sized materials. The coming age is one of applications of functional materials, nano-materials, nano engineering and nano-bots for large scale production.

While the discovery of real “new materials” has slowed down, significant progress is being made in processing of materials so that the morphology, structure and hence the properties of the engineered material can be controlled at nano-scale level. This entails understanding the physics, chemistry and other engineering properties of the materials at molecular level through proper characterization processes. We are yet to have a good enough database of various advance materials. There has been substantial advancement in research and development of polymers, ceramics, semiconducting materials and composites as functional materials in the field of structural, membrane, biomedical, sensor and energy application but applications at nano scale for mass production are yet to fructify.
The primary objective of this conference is to exchange knowledge among researchers, practicing engineers, technologists about the state of art in advance materials and their applications. Motivating academicians, young scientists, budding technologists and entrepreneurs in these fields to enrich their knowledge by interacting with their peers in their respective areas is a prime goal of the conference. The conference will be attended by research students, academics, personnel from Industry and R&D and manufacturers of various machineries and test equipment.
